Living in Auckland

AucklandAuckland is New Zealand’s largest city. Over 1.4 million people live in the greater Auckland area, which represents about one third of the population of the whole country. Auckland has been ranked the best city in the Asia Pacific area and the 4th best city in the world to live in, by the 2010 Mercer’s Quality of Living Survey.

Auckland is built on a narrow isthmus between two harbours, and is surrounded by extinct volcanoes and picturesque islands. The climate is temperate, with warm summers (averaging 12º to 24ºC) and cooler winters (averaging 9º to 16ºC). The summer months are from December to March. Auckland is also the gateway to New Zealand for tourism and immigration.
